JÉRÔME PORSPERGER (1978) is a Belgian artist based in Brussels. His two greatest sensitive passions are Art and Nature. After obtaining a master's degree in bio-engineering in 2002 (University Faculty of Gembloux, Belgium), he turned to multiple artistic practices without ever forgetting his connection to Nature.
His practice consists of bringing the world of classical music into contemporary art forms close to performance. This music has fascinated him since his adolescence. He owns 2500 vinyls and wanted to be a conductor. In constant research for new ways of raising awareness, alone or in collaboration, he willingly quits traditional methods and aesthetics.
In his The Invisible Concerts performances, he embodies the roles of classical music DJ, opera singer and “air” conductor. He also renews the visual dimension of classical music through the production of art videos, installations, posters, specific performances, actions, multimedia art and participatory experiences. He is also a rearranger of classical works and has recently started composing music.
His vocal repertoire is varied and wide in its historical scope, it extends from Henry Purcell to Christophe, from Schubert to his own compositions. His voice alternates between a high countertenor range and a warm masculine baritone voice. He also practices vocal improvisation in dialogue with spaces.
The use of his voice, as a mediating source of emotion, and the music he shares are for him a means of accessing the sacred dimensions of the living and constitutes in itself a spiritual care for his audience.
Among his passions: art, music, slow hiking in Nature, the subtle, sensitive beauty, the spiritual, contemplation, the practice of dance and Yoga, travel, well-being
His singing teachers were : Thierry Migliorini (Conservatoire Royal de Belgique – Mons), Nicolas Bauchau, Marina Cantale Von Gurterz, Paul Gérimon (Ateliers Lyriques de l’Opéra La Monnaie) et Daniel Lipnik
